ISCA’S NEW INSECT PHEROMONE PRODUCT TO MANAGE CITRUS LEAFMINER

ISCA Technologies introduced a new kit for the monitoring and mass trapping of Phyllocnistis citrella, the citrus leafminer. ISCAlure for Citrus Leafminer is a kit that uses pheromone lures to attract the pest into a sticky trap where it is captured.

ISCA Technologies, a leading supplier of environmentally friendly pest control products, introduced a new product for the monitoring and mass trapping of Phyllocnistis citrella, the citrus leafminer.   ISCAlureTM for Citrus Leafminer is a kit that uses nature-identical pheromone lures to attract the pest into a sticky trap where it is captured.  Each kit includes two traps and two pheromone lures along with a species-specific instruction and information sheet.

“Citrus leafminer (CLM) has become a huge problem in Florida not only because of the leaf damage, but also due to the potential for damage from citrus canker. ISCAlure for Citrus Leafminer helps to monitor the levels of citrus leafminer in order to effectively time my sprays and other control actions, and with mass trapping, also keeps citrus leafminer populations down between sprays. Using the ISCAlure has allowed me to spray less frequently than we are used to,” says Barbara Granger, owner of Spyke’s Grove in Davie, Florida. “By offering these kits to our customers, we can offer a great new product to manage this pest.”

“Recent research has shown a clear correlation that leaf damage caused by the citrus leafminer increases the likelihood of citrus canker infection.  ISCAlure for Citrus Leafminer represents the first in a new line of environmentally safe pheromone and semiochemical based products aimed at protecting Florida’s citrus industry. Future products will use our SPLAT mating disruption technology, which contains the same CLM pheromone, to control CLM in both large commercial groves and small backyard plots,” says Dr. Agenor Mafra-Neto, President and CEO of ISCA Technologies.

“The ISCAlure for Citrus Leafminer is the top performing CLM pheromone lure in the market. Scientific side-by-side testing with trap rotation has been done to verify that our ISCAlure clearly outperforms competitors,” says Annlok Yap, Vice President at ISCA Technologies.

    ABOUT ISCA TECHNOLOGIES
The mission of ISCA Technologies is to protect the world from damaging insects and pathogens by developing solutions that are economical, effective and ecologically friendly. One of the ways ISCA achieves this mission is by developing insect pheromone and attractant-based pest management solutions such as its SPLAT mating disruption and attract & kill products. These products offer a viable alternative to the frequent misuse and overuse of conventional pesticides. Transitioning to the use of these products from conventional pesticide-based crop management has the potential to revolutionize current agricultural practices. This change will contribute to a safer food supply and a more sustainable future.
