ISCA Technologies Update
Many positive developments have occurred since the Grower article was written several months ago. Some of these developments are :
-
Mechanical application technologies are being tested for use with SPLAT formulations e.g. aerial and a variety of ground type
applications. Results have been positive and many of these mechanical application methods, which rely on the use of existing and
off-the-shelf equipment, should be available by 2005/2006.
-
Several proprietary improvements to the SPLAT formulation have extended pheromone release duration to more than 6 months. Recently
concluded field trials in Brazil for SPLAT mating disruption of Oriental fruit moth has further verified that the formulation can
achieve season long mating disruption with one application.
-
SPLAT mating disruption and Attract & Kill formulations have been field tested with good results for many other insect pests, such
as Pink bollworm, Pecan nut casebearer, Melon fly and Oriental fruit fly. In many instances, SPLAT formulations have demonstrated
season long control with a single application early in the season. In Pink bollworm for example, the SPLAT PBW Attract & Kill
formulation has achieved control of Pink bollworm in cotton, from pin square to harvest, with one application.
