SPLAT EC TM
For the control of carob moth, Ectomyelois ceratoniae

The carob moth is recognized as the most economically damaging pest of the date industry in California. In many regions around the world, it also damages many other high value nut and fruit commodities such as almonds, pistachios, macadamias, as well as pomegranates, stone and pome fruits.

SPLAT EC is an environmentally friendly mating disruption product that provides sustained and controlled release of the carob moth pheromone. SPLAT EC provides control through the season with only a single application. SPLAT EC has been developed and extensively tested in California date gardens, where a dollop is applied to the crown and also the base of the palm. In addition to dates, SPLAT EC has also been shown to be effective at reducing carob moth populations in other crops, such as pomegranates, almonds, pistachios and others.

SPLAT EC is an outstanding alternative to standard pesticide treatments, where moths are found to develop resistance to insecticides. Dates from trees treated with SPLAT EC have shown better quality at harvest when compared to those treated with Malathion. SPLAT EC is also ideal for areas where urban sprawl has made it difficult to apply broad spectrum insecticides.

Due to the flowable and amorphous characteristic of SPLAT, compared to hand applied pheromone dispensers, SPLAT application costs can be significantly lowered with mechanical application options such as: tractors, metered backpack sprayers, grease gun, caulking guns, aircraft, etc.

The inert ingredients of all SPLAT products are biologically inert, bio-degradable, and certified by the EPA to be suitable for food use.

For the US, this product is approved for mating disruption control by the US Environmental Protection Agency.  However, some US states may require additional state registrations.  For more information or to place an order, please reference the information below or contact us.
