SPLAT CLM TM
For the control of citrus leafminer, Phyllocnistis citrella |
|
SPLAT CLM is an environmentally friendly mating disruption product that provides sustained and controlled release of the CLM pheromone to control the citrus leafminer, Phyllocnistis citrella. Independent field studies have shown that SPLAT CLM is not only effective at reducing CLM populations but also the incidence of citrus canker. SPLAT CLM provides control through the season in two applications, the first in early April and the second in July. Unlike other mating disruption products, SPLAT CLM has been found to be effective even in small plots of less than 1 acre.
SPLAT CLM is an outstanding alternative to standard pesticide treatments, where moths are found to develop resistance to insecticides. Citrus leafminer in particular is exceptionally resistant to foliar spray treatments since the damage-causing larvae are protected inside the leaves. Since SPLAT CLM treatments only disrupt the mating of CLM, it does not have any negative impact on beneficial insects. In addition to manual application methods, mechanical applicators have been designed for use with tractors, ATV's and aircraft.
Citrus leafminer is a damaging pest of citrus because the larval stage mines the leaves and fruits, ultimately killing the leaves and defoliating young citrus trees. Though CLM damages a variety of citrus plants, grapefruit, lemon, lime, and orange appear to be most susceptible to damage by this pest.
Citrus leafminer is a major concern in states like Florida, where the incidence of citrus canker is highly correlated with the population of citrus leafminer. Research indicates that the openings created by citrus leafminer make the tree highly susceptible to this incurable and devastating disease.
Due to the flowable and amorphous characteristic of SPLAT, compared to hand applied pheromone dispensers, SPLAT application costs can be significantly lowered with mechanical application options such as: tractors, metered backpack sprayers, grease gun, caulking guns, aircraft, etc.
The inert ingredients of all SPLAT products are biologically inert, bio-degradable, and certified by the EPA to be suitable for food use.
For the US, this product is approved for mating disruption control by the US Environmental Protection Agency. However, some US states may require additional state registrations. For more information or to place an order, please reference the information below or contact us.
