Torula yeast attractant lure for selected fruit fly species, ideal for the olive fruit fly, Bactrocera oleae and spotted wing drosophila, Drosophila suzukii. Manufactured in convenient to use pellets, 1 lb = 90 pellets. Pellets include borax (a natural mineral), which maintains acidity of torula yeast solution at suitable level, and slows down decomposition of captured insects. Packaged in ruggedized rain-proof re-sealable plastic container (with carrying handle) suitable for field use, which also protects pellets from moisture or disintegration due to excessive friction or pressure during transportation or storage.

AT800 Torula Yeast Bait Pellets are developed and field tested specifically for fruit fly trapping programs, and manufactured to conform to U.S. Department of Agriculture specifications.

These are the same lures selected and deployed by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and various US state departments of agriculture for monitoring and trapping programs for fruit fly species which respond to torula yeast.

Use: 3 pellets for approximately 1 to 1.5 liters of water.
Field life: 4 to 8 weeks depending on environmental conditions. May require water replenishment due to evaporation.
Shelf life: 2 years or more if properly stored.
Storage information: Store in provided container in a cool, dry area.

I have experimented with a variety of traps and lures to manage the olive fruit fly. The best solution that I have found is ISCA’s ball trap and torula yeast pellets. Though I have used the mcphail trap with success, I have found the ball trap to be an improvement, with better trap catch results. ISCA’s entomologists and customer service personnel have also been very helpful in advising me about managing the olive fruit fly and insect pest management in general.

Last year I purchase the Torula pellets. They worked very well with my McPhail traps. Our traps yealded us a significantly less olive fly issues last year. The year befores harvest had alot more fly issues. I clean aand refil the traps weekly or more often as the summer gets hotter. The traps and bait attract olive flys and yellow jackets (an unexpected benefit). We have talked to some local commercial growers and are trying to follow their acceptable prameters for our harvest. My wife & I believe that we have exceeded their expectations.
