The ISCA Ball Trap, an improved version of the McPhail trap, is used for trapping a wide variety of fruit flies (such as the olive fruit fly), yellowjacket wasps and other insects. Among other advantages, it holds twice the volume of liquid attractants compared to the McPhail trap, and it has a larger and more flexible receptacle to contain a wider variety of solid and liquid attractants. Comparative field tests have shown the Ball trap to be superior to other fly traps such as the McPhail trap and the Dome trap. Available in yellow, red, green or blue.

last year i bought just a couple traps and the yeast pellets to try them out with my olive trees. they worked so well I've bought more this year. i only have a few trees but these have helped to reduce the damage on my olives.

I have experimented with a variety of traps and lures to manage the olive fruit fly. The best solution that I have found is ISCA’s ball trap and torula yeast pellets. Though I have used the mcphail trap with success, I have found the ball trap to be an improvement, with better trap catch results. ISCA’s entomologists and customer service personnel have also been very helpful in advising me about managing the olive fruit fly and insect pest management in general.

Last year I purchased 6 traps. I hung them in our ancient (50+years) olive trees. The traps really helped us. We had a very munute olive fly problems. The year befores harvest, we had a large issue with the olive fly. Hanging the traps was the only issue to get them properly positioned. Hanging them from a branch at times is the only way to get them hung. The cord does feed back through the holder. If you have a stubb of a branch in the right location hanging is very easy. Cleaning & refilling is not an issue.
