SPLAT CLM combines nature-identical CLM pheromone with SPLAT to control the citrus leafminer (CLM),
Phyllocnistis citrella, using the environmentally friendly
mating disruption control strategy. Unlike wide spectrum insecticides which may impact beneficial insects (such as bees), or may cause insecticide resistance build-up or insecticide drift, SPLAT CLM is species specific and does not cause insecticide resistance or drift issues. CLM is also resistant to many foliar insecticide treatments since the damage-causing larvae are protected inside the leaves. SPLAT CLM prevents larval damage by disrupting the mating of CLM with the controlled release of the nature-identical CLM pheromone.
Mating disruption control is generally not recommended to protect plots of less than 2.5 acres or individual trees.
To monitor and manage CLM in individual trees, consider ISCAlure Citrella here
Mating disruption control can be considered for plots of less than 2.5 acres if:
• the plot is enclosed, such as enclosed greenhouse, or
• the vicinity outside the plot does not have CLM host plants within a distance of 500 yards outside the plot.

Suggested use:
SPLAT CLM, packaged in bulk, is optimized for use in areawide applications to commercial citrus groves larger than 5 acres. ISCA has collaborated with commercial applicators to offer reliable mechanical application of this product. CLM monitoring using species specific pheromone trap should be a part of your SPLAT CLM mating disruption program. Please contact us, or your extension entomologist or PCO to learn more about SPLAT mating disruption or mechanical application.
Suggested Schedule:
Apply SPLAT CLM just prior to first growth flush in the Spring. Monitor CLM populations and consider additional applications if trap catch thresholds are met. Timing can vary by environmental conditions. Consult your pest control advisor for help to establish damage thresholds and determine application timing.
Application Rate:
140-300 grams per acre; depending on plot size and other factors
Application Equipment:
Various application methods have been adapted by growers and applicators, including manual, mechanical and aerial application methods. Please contact us for suggestions.
Field Duration:
8-12 weeks depending on application density and environmental conditions.
